My own car from June 2016 and the one that kick-started my passion for the Boxster and Cayman models, and led to the establishment of Flat Six Classics.
In 2016 I reluctantly sold my BMW M3 track car, but still wanted something interesting to drive. I bought X847LGU sight unseen on a well known online auction site (not necessarily the way I would do it now!), but on collecting the car I was pleasantly surprised by how it looked, and how it drove on the way home. I was even more pleased after Martin Reed inspected the car and pronounced it in good order.
The service record is comprehensive, the 15 stamps in the service book a mix of OPC and well known Porsche specialists (JAZ, Manor Garage, 911Box). Since I bought the car it has been looked after by Martin Reed of North Devon Porsche, and has had a major service, new front suspension “coffin arms”, new brake discs and pads all round, new air conditioning condensers, new exhaust clamps and sleeves, a brake fluid change and new N-rated Continental SportContact 2 tyres.
The Seal Grey paintwork presents very well, although there are a few stone chips to the front end, and a small pin dent on the offside rear wing. The 18” Sport Design split rim wheels are in good condition but not perfect. This car is mechanically excellent, and drives beautifully, steering precisely with handling and brakes to match.
A great introduction to the 986 Boxster S with all the important mechanical work done.
