This 1999 Porsche Boxster 2.5 Tiptronic is a low-mileage, three owner car, presented in excellent original condition throughout. The odometer now shows 60,803 miles, the last owner having added nearly 20,000 miles in the past 18 months (…we can only assume he really enjoyed driving the car!).

First registered in July 1999, this fabulous Boxster was in the possession of its first keeper for almost 22 years, until we purchased the car in March 2021 and sold it to its second owner, whose circumstances meant he had to sell the car back to us after just a few months’ ownership. The third owner bought T59FRU from us in August 2021, and has used it as his daily driver, commuting from deepest Surrey up to Hampton Hill. A verifiable Porsche enthusiast who also owns a 930 Turbo and a 914, he has now returned the car to us to avoid the ever-widening ULEZ zone around London.

While an original UK-specification right-hand drive C16 car, it was purchased new from Pon Porsche Centre in Amersfoort, Holland in June 1999, before being imported to the UK three days later.

The specification is generous with some sought after options – heated seats, cruise control, ASR and ABD traction control (forerunners to PSM), extended leather, automatic air conditioning, 6-disc CD changer and headlamp washer system.

The bodywork is in fantastic order throughout, with smooth panels, consistent paint finish and flush shut lines. Just a couple of tiny paint blemishes are present, but nothing that detracts from the wonderfully preserved whole.

This Boxster comes with the original and desirable factory hard top, giving it greater year-round usability, and also has the wall storage unit. The car rides on a set of 17-inch Twist-spoke alloy wheels, which are in superb condition on all four corners, commensurate with the low mileage. The tyres are all recent N-rated Pirelli P Zero Rosso.

Moving inside, the grey extended leather upholstery is in great shape, and is entirely original, presenting with just some modest creasing from age and considerate use. The carpets and carpet mats are all excellent, and the car also features a “centre console delete”, although on these early cars it was more a case of not ordering it as an option!

The service history is exemplary, with all routine servicing to 2020 having been carried out by Porsche Centre Bournemouth, and a fully stamped service record accompanies the car, along with every piece of paperwork from new. Before selling the car back in April 2021, we carried out a Minor service and brake fluid change. A further invoice and stamp for a Major service, new spark plugs and a gearbox oil change from August 2022 completes the history.

Accompanying the vehicle are the factory hard top and its wall storage unit, the original owner’s manual, service book and wallet, as well as the radio/CD manual, the original purchase and registration documents, numerous invoices and old MOT certificates, and the full factory toolkit.

On the road, this fabulous early Boxster feels beautifully smooth, the ride remaining supple yet with taut body control and precise handling. Performance is lively, the free-revving 2.5 flat-six engine providing a stirring soundtrack, with smooth gearchanges from the 5-speed Tiptronic gearbox, working perfectly either in full auto mode or manually from the steering wheel mounted buttons. Precise, talkative steering and responsive, powerful brakes complete the picture.
